Abstract

As Medical Affairs (MA) teams transform in the era of modern technologies and personalized medicines, the discipline of Medical Communications has expanded from only focusing on leading publication-planning activities to driving the development of strategic scientific communications across all global healthcare supply chain platforms. Medical Communications teams have in the past been limited to an execution-focused role, rather than a strategic role when it came to communicating scientific evidence. However, given the new focus on speeding up data communication, with the emphasis on customizing information to various audiences, there has been a clear need for the function to evolve into a more strategic discipline of MA in order to drive a cohesive and consistent scientific communications strategy across multiple channels.
