Abstract

Innovations in medical waste management in a global healthcare supply chain include automation and robotics. These systems can transport, sterilize, and sort with great operational effectiveness. Achieving environmental sustainability in healthcare requires improvements in waste management and reduction, material segregation and transportation, and reduced consumption. Current methods of healthcare waste disposal, such as incineration, land-filling, and chemical treatments, negatively impact both the environment and public health.
