Abstract

The case is put forth that an author’s stylistic traits dominate any stylistic traits that various genres have. There are not many practitioners who espouse this position. Several examples are given. Most of those do temper their stand. A few other confounding variables such as chronology and topic are discussed. Kestemont’s warning that this position is untested ends this chapter.
