Abstract

This chapter discusses Kestemont’s unmasking technique for authorship verification across genres. Other studies that work on closely related techniques are shown. The strengths and weaknesses of these studies are gone over. Stamatatos and other studies that work on cross-genre authorship are discussed. Some PAN 2015 and PAN 2026 results are presented. Many other studies that try to ignore genre in their experimental design with poor results are discussed. The point is made that genre will never be able to be ignored in non-traditional authorship attribution studies.
