Kohut's Last Words
Abstract
This reproduced original chapter discusses Kohut&s;s final presentation, delivered three days before his death (October 1981). In this address, Kohut chose to speak on empathy. He made this critical choice because he felt that the concept, and his own ideas about empathy, had been sadly misunderstood and needed clarification.
