Abstract
This is a reproduced original chapter that covers Kohut&s;s ideas during the 1960s. At that time, he wrote three integrating papers that conceptualized a normal developmental path for narcissism that culminated in the formation of intrapsychic structures. He also began to imply a new therapeutic approach using his ideas.
