Abstract

This chapter introduces Aiden, who was moved into the home shortly after Bill’s death, following a breakdown in his relationship with his father. This chapter explores Aiden’s choices in attendance of the music therapy inquiry, and how he used music to build relationships. It also focuses on Aiden’s choice to try locking other participants out of the music therapy room, how he explored feelings around exclusion and inclusion within the therapy, and identifies some of the questions his participation in the inquiry raised. Reflections from participants in the co-operative inquiry show how his questions were interpreted and thought about as they arose. Questions are also raised about the impact of bringing in a new group member when a group culture is already established in a therapy group.
