Abstract

This chapter describes and critiques how people with intellectual disabilities were involved as advisers at the beginning of the project, showing how it helped shape decisions about the design and approach. Questions are raised about the representation of minimally speaking people by those who are more articulate. The rationale for ethical choices and the inquiry design will be explored in a section that examines how the proposal was prepared for the ethics committee. This chapter also covers the initial meetings and discusses how this shaped the inquiry.
