Abstract

This chapter explores the perspectives raised by Jack and his contribution to the inquiry. Jack became more engaged with others through the music as the inquiry continued. The chapter discusses Jack’s decisions throughout the six stages of the music therapy inquiry, focusing on his attendance choices, illustrated by attendance charts. Other areas of focus include the timing of his decisions to be in or out of the room, the impact on Jack of sounds in music therapy, and the importance of musical instruments as objects for exchange and relationship building. A table encapsulates the patterns of change in these areas. The chapter concludes by summarising some of the questions Jack raised and some final thoughts from the music therapist about what he learned from Jack.
