Abstract

This chapter explores brain development during adolescence and its impact on emotions and the stress response. It covers the hyperactive amygdala and hormonal changes that contribute to increased anxiety. The chapter also outlines the importance of connection during this stage, addressing the pressure to belong, the yearning for independence, romantic relationships, and everything in between. Additionally, it discusses how today&s;s world—with climate anxiety and economic uncertainty—differs from the past, highlighting the need to adapt in order to navigate the psychological toll and mental strain of living in an unpredictable time. Real-life scenarios are included to enhance relatability and understanding.
