Abstract

It is no coincidence that the conceptualisation of knowledge processes is very often associated with images that evoke the semantic sphere of water: a sea of data, data deluge, surfing the web, a flood of data, data tsunami, data lakes and even the very notion of cybernetics (cyber, which comes from the Greek kybernetes, a “helmsman”, or a “ship’s pilot”).
