Abstract

This chapter explores the spatial, temporal and relational dimensions within which digital data moves. In relation to space, digital platforms are analysed not as mere containers of information, but as complex environments which, through their affordances, contribute to shaping the form, meaning and accessibility of data. The temporal dimension is examined by distinguishing between the synchronous and diachronic uses of data, as well as its ephemeral or persistent nature. Finally, the chapter reflects on the relationship between researchers and digital data, highlighting the interpretative challenges that arise when interacting with content generated in rapidly changing digital contexts that are driven by algorithmic logic.
