Comparative assessment of EU candidate countries
Abstract
This chapter applies the composite indicator framework to compare Ukraine with other EU candidate and potential candidate countries. It provides detailed cross-country assessments in key areas: market functioning, macroeconomic stability, competitiveness, financing ability, and convergence. This chapter includes a SWOT analysis and discusses how Ukraine aligns with or diverges from Western Balkan trajectories. The specific method and data selection criteria have already been discussed in Chapter 4 . In this section, the last stage of indicator creation will be presented.
