Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of the achievements and limitations in the field of Chinese classics translation research, along with suggestions for future studies. It highlights significant progress, noting that over 10,000 research papers related to the translation of Chinese classics have been published, indicating a growing scholarly interest. However, the chapter identifies several limitations, such as the uneven quality of research, a narrow focus on specific texts, and a lack of critical analysis of translations. The chapter emphasizes the need for deeper theoretical exploration, more diverse research topics, and improved methodologies in translation studies. It calls for a greater emphasis on the translation history of Chinese classics, cross-cultural dissemination, and the challenges posed by translating cultural terms. Future research should also incorporate modern technological tools to enhance empirical studies. The chapter advocates for a more holistic approach to translation studies, integrating various theoretical perspectives and focusing on the cultural implications of translations. Finally, the chapter encourages scholars to contribute to the global understanding of Chinese culture through effective translation practices and an independent discourse system that reflects China&s;s unique characteristics.
