New Capabilities
Abstract
The resurrection of progressive education through AI creates an immediate challenge: what exactly should students learn in this new environment? If they can tackle complex problems without mastering traditional prerequisites, if AI handles procedural tasks that once defined competence, then our familiar learning objectives become obsolete. We need new goalposts for human development; capabilities that complement rather than compete with AI.
