The Eclipse of the (Psychotic) Subject?
Abstract
Throughout this book, I have highlighted the risks of science's exclusive focus on objectivity, which often leads to the erasure of the subject. Will the subject eventually disappear entirely from our understanding of reality? Foucault entertains this possibility, envisioning a future devoid of subjectivity. Personally, I find such a vision unsettling. Without the subject, there can be no thought or reflection. The psychotic subject, too, would cease to exist, leaving an empty void where meaning once resided.
