Abstract

This chapter explores solutions to the problems between fathers and daughters that are caused by the choices she makes in her personal life: Whether she smokes or drinks, who she dates, lives with or marries, whether she lives with her boyfriend or ever has children with or without being married, or the choices she makes as a person who is not heterosexual. The chapter also explains why daughters should not deceive or lie to their fathers about their personal lives and how to be honest without giving up privacy. Solutions are also offered for what fathers should do when they disapprove of the man or woman their daughter is in love with and how to handle political differences that drive fathers and daughters apart.
