Abstract

This chapter explores the issues related to the father’s aging and dying, which can stress his relationships with his daughter. These issues include caregiving responsibilities, decisions about medical care, end-of-life wishes and money, financial issues and inheritance, honest communication or deception in families, and stepfamily conflicts. Recent and surprising facts about the financial and emotional realities of aging and dying highlight the kinds of problems many fathers and daughters face in their final years, along with real-life stories and conversations on these topics.
