Abstract

In Chapter 9 , Casey O’Donnell and Olli Sotamaa point out that there are multiple different cultures of game production, and while our attention is often drawn towards the large studios and big productions, there are actually significant transformations going on in the field of game production, and it is important to take this larger, more diverse picture into account. This includes many different types of ‘indie’ or independent game production types, as well as the expanding field of independent, artistic, and experimental analogue game creation.
