Abstract

This chapter evaluates a series of individual German POW’s violent experiences as an outcome of Nazi ideologies. The reader will explore prisoners’ camp life using court testimony, eyewitness testimony, interviews under oath, and various correspondence. Then there is a shift using court cases in which Nazi leadership murdered or ordered the murder of a non-Nazi POW. The Nazi control came to be known by the American administration as the Nazi terror machine, it was so violent and unyielding. This chapter focuses on the seamy underside of the camps and the degree of violence to which the Nazis were willing to go to maintain control and maintain their belief in the narrative of Nazi supremacy.
