Abstract

Chapter 6 briefly deals with the role interpreting plays in Skopostheorie , particularly with respect to the ‘first-interpreting-then-translating’ approach in translator training. Regarding professional interpreting, such as consecutive or simultaneous interpretation, being no expert in this field myself, I had to draw on the publications by others, particularly by the eminent interpreting scholar and active conference interpreter Franz Pöchhacker, who was the first in integrating simultaneous interpretation into the general framework of translational action.
