Abstract

This chapter offers the study’s concluding reflections. The first section reviews the book’s central argument. The second section assesses how the Italian evidence supports the theoretical propositions advanced in the volume. The third section specifies the contribution to the literature on military policing and CMR, showing how a party-centred framework explains variation over time and across contexts. The fourth section acknowledges key limitations, including scope conditions, single-case design, and data constraints that affect internal decision-making inference. Finally, the last section outlines avenues for future research, calling for comparative tests, deeper analysis of party-system heterogeneity, and broader attention to international and institutional drivers of military policing.
