Abstract

This chapter explores the role of wellbeing as both a product and a dimension of spiritual fulfilment. It emphasizes that wellbeing extends beyond physical and psychological health to include existential and relational factors such as meaning, connectedness, and moral integrity. Drawing on holistic and strengths-based approaches, the chapter considers how spirituality can support resilience and recovery, especially in contexts of trauma, loss, or adversity. It also highlights how systemic factors – such as inequality, discrimination and disempowerment – can undermine wellbeing and require structural as well as personal responses. For people professionals, promoting wellbeing involves attending to the whole person and being attuned to the spiritual dimensions of care, support, and empowerment. The chapter provides a foundation for understanding wellbeing as an integrative, dynamic, and ethical concern.
