Abstract

This chapter explores the relationship between theory and practice in the context of spirituality and religion, emphasizing the need for a balanced and integrated approach in the people professions. It argues against a rigid application of theory and advocates for ‘theorizing practice’, where practitioners use theoretical knowledge to make sense of specific situations. The chapter also highlights the importance of self-awareness and reflexivity, encouraging professionals to examine their own spiritual perspectives and how these may influence their interactions with others.
