Abstract

This chapter introduces wisdom as a central aspect of spirituality, distinguishing it from knowledge and emphasizing its practical, life-guiding value. Wisdom is portrayed as the capacity to make sound judgements grounded in experience, ethical awareness and spiritual insight. Drawing on theories of multiple intelligences and spiritual intelligence, the chapter considers how wisdom involves integrating inner reflection with external action. It critiques the overemphasis on data and information in modern society and warns against losing sight of deeper understanding. The discussion encourages practitioners to cultivate their own spiritual wisdom as a resource for ethical decision-making, compassionate practice and holistic engagement with those they support. Wisdom is framed as essential for navigating complexity in diverse, multicultural contexts.
