Abstract

As we discuss currere as an interpretation of educational experience, we are examining manifest and latent meanings, the conscious and unconscious content of our language, as well as the political implications of reflection and interpretation. Freudian theory, as well as its revision in the theories of ego psychology of Roy Schafer, Carl Frankenstein, Ernst Kris, and Erik Erikson, is compared to the theory and practice of our work with autobiography to both acknowledge their influences and to establish the differences that separate our project and its practice from psychoanalytic therapy.
