Abstract

This chapter looks at the coming of the Long Cold War with a focus on Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina. The Cold War history of Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina highlights the fact that there were major differences among nation-states in Latin America during the Long Cold War and the Global Cold War. This is a diversity that has made and will continue to make it difficult at times to treat Latin America as a relatively unified object of study and policy formulation.
