Abstract

This is an epilogue on the post-Cold War era. It looks at inter-American relations after 1991 and before 2001 when the emphasis was on globalization. It then looks at the period after 2001, emphasizing the major impact that 9/11 had on US-Latin American relations. It then looks at the first and second Trump administrations. Across both administrations, the president, a former reality TV star, routinely disparaged and demonized people from Latin America in relation to what was an increasingly racialized approach to politics by the second Trump administration.
