Introduction
Abstract
The introduction sets the scene for this book. First, the organization Back on My Feet and the broad scope of the work are explored. Second, the complex problem of homelessness is introduced broadly and then specific to the United States. Third, the organization and the problem of homelessness are situated within wider societal and historical dynamics of racialized urban poverty, neoliberalism, and the use of sport and physical activity as intervention strategies. The chapter concludes with an overview of each chapter.
