Abstract

This chapter examines how event organisers can translate sustainability principles into practical event delivery. It explores strategies for achieving economic, socio-cultural and environmental sustainability, highlighting how events can generate local economic benefits, foster inclusive community participation and minimise environmental impacts through effective management practices. The chapter also introduces systems thinking as an essential approach to understanding the interconnections between these dimensions, enabling organisers to balance competing priorities and create resilient, sustainable events. Through practical tools, examples and management frameworks, the chapter demonstrates how sustainability can be embedded in the planning and staging of contemporary events.
