Component 3

Component 3 (C3) of National Board Certification focuses on candidates' teaching practice and the learning environment they create. In their submission, candidates will provide two 10-to-15-minute videos of their classroom, illustrating how they skillfully design and deliver lessons to students. This chapter educates candidates on what makes an accomplished C3 portfolio submission, including support for planning lessons and capturing a compelling video, appropriately analyzing and writing about what the videos show assessors, avoiding common pitfalls, and writing a convincing Written Commentary. The chapter includes a variety of case studies and Your Turn! workbook sections to help candidates understand and prepare for each step of the process.
