Abstract

This chapter aims to highlight issues related to the rehabilitation of juvenile offenders in Poland. The text will discuss the institutions for juveniles in Poland and the new Act of June 9, 2022, which regulates the support and rehabilitation of juveniles. This act represents a significant change in the Polish juvenile justice system, aimed at addressing the increasing number of criminal acts and instances of “demoralization”. Juvenile delinquency is a widespread issue in Europe that requires new solutions. The knowledge about the risk and protective factors is essential to support the juveniles’ socio-emotional development. Valuable insights to support juvenile offenders can be gained by analysing related statistics. The main goal of the introduced changes is to rehabilitate juvenile offenders more effectively. The new law aims to ensure justice, legal protection, and individualization of the rehabilitation system for minors, enabling their social reintegration and preventing further crimes.
