Abstract

This chapter describes the eight elementary schools, the context for their involvement in an effective school process, their demographics, and achievement results based on the California Assessment Program. The effectiveness formula, presented in Chapter 1 , is applied to the test data to establish an effectiveness scale for each school at third and sixth grade. The effective schools survey results are assessed and compared. The data presented are used to answer three questions: Applying the effectiveness formula, did the school effectiveness and improvement process have an impact on student achievement during the duration of this study? Were there significant differences in attitudes among teachers in the more effective schools compared to the less effective schools? Did the opinions of staff members change during the course of the study?
