Abstract

We have investigated in the previous chapter the limitations and possibilities of man as an information processor/learner and seen how the computer can interact with him to offset the limitations and extend these possibilities. The computer and the methods of information technology are being applied to and are being used in education in a variety of ways. The simplest form of introducing the computer to the classroom has been to teach computer literacy, keyboard skills and simple programming, and to make use of it for simple tasks. Teachers adopting this somewhat cautious approach have often found themselves overtaken by some students who by using their own home computers have gone beyond this.
