Abstract

Education plays a key role in shaping a society. The purpose of education is not confined to the mastery of content but expands to the enhancement of skills and values needed for creating sustainable societies for all. Peace values and skills are required to be inculcated from the initial stages of learning through relevant approaches, methods, techniques, activities, and materials. This chapter suggests a peace-oriented pedagogical framework for the development of peace values and skills. This suggestive framework describes the contributing factors responsible for teaching peace values and skills, including curriculum, teaching–learning methods, teaching–learning materials, and classroom environment. The pedagogical practices must be oriented toward the goals of developing a balanced personality. In addition, it highlights the features of a peaceful teacher who helps in transforming today’s children into responsible citizens of tomorrow.
