Abstract

The book discusses how social psychology in India critically contributes to interdisciplinary social science and integrates with its liberatory goal. In the current times, we see a remarkable influence of information, rise of technological interventions, global conflicts, varieties of social movements, and deep entrenchment of prejudices based on caste, religious affiliations, and gender. The quest for equality and social harmony becomes the foremost goal. The social psychological reality in India is evident from different accounts. The narration of the contexts and memories portrays a picture that social psychology, based on the Western model, cannot capture unless more space is given to the researcher to bring one's experience and entanglement with the sociohistorical reality.
