Abstract

This chapter reflects on the diverse journeys of community education and lifelong learning across cultures and contexts. Drawing upon insights from 12 country and regional case studies in Asia, Europe, Oceania, and North America, it explores how local practices, whether village-based education in South Korea, community capacity building in Indonesia, or active aging initiatives in Australia, contribute to a broader, interconnected vision of lifelong learning. Rather than offering a single model, the chapter emphasizes the creative tensions, shared values, and evolving commitments that unite these efforts. By weaving together narratives of resilience, innovation, and belonging, it advocates the power of communities to reimagine education as a lifelong, life-wide endeavor. The chapter concludes by looking forward, suggesting that in bridging worlds, community education can also chart new futures of justice, sustainability, and human flourishing.
