Methods of Approach
Abstract
Young children are more influenced by how information is taught than what information is taught. Place and Time are both ‘information’ subjects and both require certain common skills for children to learn. Therefore I am considering methods of approach in three parts. The first looks at the approaches which are common to both Place and Time. The similarity in the disciplines makes this part the most detailed. The second will consider approaches specific to Place, in which graphicacy holds a large place. The last part is approaches specific to Time, in this case much concerned with sequence/time-lines and time charts. In the last two parts much material is given which helps both Place and Time. In all three parts, the whole age-range of 5 to 9 will be considered.
