Abstract

The first section ( Chapters 1 and 2 ) has focused upon the question of community action and publicly sponsored community development and poverty programmes in Britain in relation to wider processes of political change, from the late sixties through to the end of the seventies and beyond. In this second section, we shall be illustrating certain aspects of those processes, and the theoretical debates which were associated with them, through a case study, involving community action elements within the British projects in the European Economic Community’s antipoverty programme.
