Abstract

Solving problems, making decisions, and engaging in reasoning are all reflective activities aimed at evaluating and manipulating the information we have at our disposal. Problem solving entails finding a way of changing a given situation into a form that is more to our liking. Decisions are made when we make comparisons between possible options and settle upon what we think to be the best choice. Reasoning occurs when we scrutinise our beliefs with the aim of producing new and more coherent versions.
