Abstract

There is little to be gained from storing information about the properties of the world around us if it cannot be accessed when needed or, once accessed, if it cannot be exploited to further our own interests. Yet, given the sheer scale of the storage systems involved, what sort of mechanisms could sift through everything we have learned and pull out exactly those entries that are appropriate at just the right time?
