Abstract

Within the structure of the state, protected by it (for even laissezfaire is an active, not a passive, notion), and, in turn, determining its shape, is carried on the economic life of the community. In this chapter we change the lenses of our spectacles and put on those which show up this economic aspect. We use the word ‘economic’ in its widest sense to mean the general methods of provision, whether the means be scarce or not.
