Abstract

Transparency in therapy, in general, involves clear and honest communication from the therapist to the client about the therapeutic process, including the therapist’s methods, goals and reasons for interventions. It is distinct from therapist self-disclosure, which refers to sharing personal details about the therapist’s life. The goal of transparency is to make therapy less mysterious, improve client understanding and strengthen the therapeutic relationship.
