Abstract

I mentioned in Chapter10 that the element of single-session therapy practice with which I struggle the most is not overloading the client. I don’t think that I am alone in this. Overloading a client in single-session therapy is rarely the intention of a therapist. Thus, I have never met an SST therapist who has said, ‘My intention is for the client to leave the session with so much that they will unable to takeaway anything meaningful.’ Indeed, this is the unfortunate consequence for the client when have a session with a therapist who is well meaning.
