Abstract

As a single-session therapist, it is vital that you keep in mind the idea that anticipating change can serve as a strong motivator for you to help your client initiate the change that they are looking for in the session. By helping your client to see that change is possible, you can help them to modify their mindset in a positive direction. This will then have a constructive impact on their behaviour and help them to achieve their session and problem-related goals. This forward-thinking mindset, fuelled by the expectation of change, encourages a more positive and flexible attitude, enhancing your client’s ability to handle new situations more successfully.
