Abstract

Single-session therapy can be accessed either by appointment or through an open-access service, where the individual can enter the service when it is open and have a session during that visit. Generally, clients benefit most when they prepare for a session. When someone books an appointment for SST, there is usually a gap between scheduling and having the session. This allows you to contact them and encourage them to prepare. However, if they attend an open-access, enter now service, they may also be asked to prepare, as it is unlikely you will be available to see them immediately upon their entry.
