Abstract

I recently had a supervision session with a therapist who was practising brief therapy but did not operate within an SST context. During the supervision, the individual mentioned that the suggestions I made to improve their work could be beneficial if implemented, but seemed like a lot of work, and they couldn’t be bothered to make the effort. To that person, doing therapy was like any other job, and as long as they weren’t doing any harm, which they weren’t, they were content to practise therapy in their accustomed fashion. I respect that person’s position, and if that is your view of doing SST, then this chapter is not for you.
