Abstract

‘Now’ is a very important concept in the single-session therapy mindset. As Table 0.1 shows, ‘now’ features in Talmon’s (1990) work: ‘All you have is now’, in Cannistrà’s (2022) review of the SST literature: ‘It’s best to stick with process and the here and now’ and Porter et al.’s survey of ten SST experts: ‘Focus on the now’. Indeed, for a time when I was searching for an alternative name to ‘single-session therapy’ to describe my own work, I seriously contemplated changing it to ‘Now Therapy’. 1
