Abstract

The detailed discussion of grafting neural tissues in parkinsonian animals and patients has yielded two main conclusions: Dopamine-rich grafts in the striatum can restore many, but not all, of the symptoms arising from forebrain dopamine depletion in animals and man. Neural grafts can work by a number of different mechanisms of action.
