CDP: An Official View
Abstract
The CDP is a modest attempt at action research into the better understanding and more comprehensive tackling of social needs, especially in local communities within the older urban areas, through closer co-ordination of central and local official and unofficial effort, informed and stimulated by citizen initiative and involvement. The concept of community development of this kind is not new; but this is the first time that central and local government have decided to make a joint venture into this field themselves.
